Workshop
The Roadmap of Electricity: From Source to Our Homes!
Power Grid Workshop
The Power Grid Workshop is an innovative educational experience hosted at the Mishkat Interactive Center for Atomic and Renewable Energy in Riyadh, KSA. Designed for children aged 7 to 12, this workshop combines the fun of a board game with practical learning about electricity generation and transmission.
Structured in two phases—education and gameplay—the workshop begins with a comprehensive educational session where participants learn about different energy sources and the basics of how electricity is generated and transmitted. Following this, the game phase engages students in applying their knowledge.
Each group of participants is provided with a detailed fabric map that includes various regions such as power plants, transformation facilities, and residential areas. The maps also help students understand the geographical and climatic conditions affecting energy production and distribution. During gameplay, students select the most appropriate type of power plant based on regional features. They then strategize the placement of transformers, electric poles, and house models to efficiently transport electricity to residential areas.
Through this hands-on educational journey, our workshop introduces the intricate principles of electricity generation and transmission while also encouraging teamwork, peer communication, and problem solving skills.
